Outreach From Westminster

Our Mission: Knowing Christ and Making Christ Known

As part of our worship, the Outreach Committee supports the people of Westminster Presbyterian Church as we seek opportunities to reflect the light of God’s love out into the world.

We do this by seeking God’s justice and peace through advocating for the needs of all His creation, by funding effective charitable organizations and Christian ministries, and by volunteering our time in the service of others. Our efforts are directed locally, nationally and internationally and, in all we do, we seek to become connected to those we serve, as neighbors and as children of God.

Through the Hand of Outreach:

/files/Outreach/Images/Hand_of_Outreach (2).jpgThe 5 fingers of the Hand of Outreach describe what we do. The thumb is Missional Formation, which incorporates education classes, discussions, speakers, movies, etc., all of which help us to be formed and transformed.

The other fingers represent:

Redistribution of our money: This involves being good stewards of the money entrusted to us, deciding how to allocate the money, and distributing it to worthy and deserving agencies and ministries, and then maintaining contact with the agencies and ministries and making sure that the money is being used wisely.

Peace and Justice: The areas of concern to us all include hunger, poverty, AIDS, homelessness, healthcare, addiction, violence, slavery, torture, abuse, and other areas. Advocacy is an integral part of what we are about as we strive to speak out for those who have no voice.

Caring for Creation: Because we worship and honor the Creator, we seek to cherish and care for the creation. We need to be good stewards of our earth, our climate, and all our natural resources, as well as the creatures that live with us.

Service: Volunteering involves giving of our time and talents in the service of others. We strive to engage all members of the congregation in service to others, here in West Chester, elsewhere in the US, or overseas. By Making Christ Known, we learn to Know Christ in a deeper way.
