What is a Spiritual Gift?

Spiritual gifts are given by the Holy Spirit to a follower of Jesus Christ in order to demonstrate God's love to others. They are Spiritual because they come from the Holy Spirit… They are a gift because they are “grace” based. We do not choose them nor deserve them. Yet God freely gives them. Sometimes these gifts are displayed in very dramatic ways. But most often, they can be seen in the quiet efforts of Christians serving each other and the world.

Make sure to resist the temptation to check what you wish you were like. Sometimes your responses will be based on what you think about yourself and sometimes they will be based on what others have affirmed in you. One of the great realities of Spiritual Gifts is that they are affirmed in the community of believers… so thinking about what others say is a good way to check yourself.
