Month: April 2025

We Need You!

June 23-27, 2025
We need YOU to help our workshop leaders with their workshops! We need more ADULT volunteers in the morning and the afternoon to keep us compliant with our safety policy and legal mandates for Camp Spark. We can also use as many youth volunteers as possible to help with workshops AND all of the transition times and connecting with the kids during lunch, snack times, etc. Morning help needed with: Drama, Dance, Percussion, and a fun “What’s THAT?” workshop designed to learn more about the church building and transitions. Afternoon help needed with: Baking, Art, Outreach – packing backpacks & lunches, and other presentations. No experience with those skills needed. Just a willingness to offer helping hands! Time is ticking! Click here to sign up and/or register your child(ren). Questions? Contact Cacila Rollet.

Calling All Bakers

Another school year is coming to an end. Cheyney University students are preparing for finals week. We will provide them with cookie/brownie treats to show them we are thinking of them, and to help them get through finals week. If you love to bake, we need you! Each bag should include 3 cookies or one large brownie per each clear bag. No nuts please! We are hoping for 12-24 bags per each baker. We will collect treats before each service on Sunday, May 4 in Spellman Hall and deliver them to the students on Monday, May 5. Email Nancy Tuttle to sign up.

Bring Flowers on Easter

Westminster has a tradition of “flowering the cross” on Easter. Throughout the years we have had a cross in the courtyard when we add flowers to bring “new life” to the cross. After last Easter the old cross, having seen many better years, was replaced by a brand new, beautiful white cross made by our own Jerry Shuts, that will help continue this tradition for years to come. We invite you to bring your own flowers (from your gardens or purchased) to adorn our cross with new life on Easter morning!

Highlight: Anxious Generation

YouTube player

Meet Lori Willingham and Rev. John Willingham, a retired school nurse and pastor in this short video (2.5 minutes). They introduce a workshop they’re holding from 5:30-7:30 pm May 4 & 5 on the book, The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. We will discuss what the research tells us about an unintended impact of the digital age on today’s young people and steps that can be taken to halt this disturbing trend.

You don’t need to read the book ahead of time, but simply come with a desire to learn more and be part of the change. Meals and child care are provided. $10 suggested donation to cover the cost of the meals. Click here to register.

Whether you’re picking up a paddle for the first time or are an experienced player, we’ve got a game for you, and don’t forget to bring friends! OGHS is the single, largest way Presbyterians come together to work for a better world by advancing the causes of justice, resilience, and sustainability. Each donation to OGHS helps change the lives of people who are in these challenging situations.
