11/10/19 - Presbyterians and the Afterlives of Slavery: Various Strategies

Time: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: Spellman Jr.

Presbyterians, particularly those associated with Princeton Seminary, played a key role in national debates about slavery and race before the Civil War, and helped establish the American Colonization Society and the country of Liberia as a way to solve America's problems with slavery and race. After the Civil War, Presbyterian struggles with the many afterlives of slavery took various forms and continue into the present. These sessions led by Rev. Dr. Gordon Mikoski will dig into Presbyterian imagination around issues of slavery and race in the past, in the present, and the future.
