Boy Breaking Glass: A Vision for a Better Future Concert

4:00 pm Sunday, February 22 • Sanctuary
Celebrate Black History Month with Elevation, an all-professional, intentionally diverse vocal ensemble whose performances fuse traditional, classical choral music with jazz, Hip-Hop, R&B, storytelling, and spoken word.
This concert is inspirited from Gwendolyn Brooks’ searing poem, Boy Breaking Glass, about a young Black boy who breaks a window, not out of vandalism, but as an act of protest and creation. The shattered glass becomes his art, a demand to be seen and heard in a world that has erased him. Through music that spans genres and idioms, we ask: What might it mean to build a future from the fragments? To lift every voice—not in support of the status quo, but in pursuit of justice, belonging, and joy. Joining them for a closing set of gospel music are participants of the Come Sunday: Worship and Music That Moves Us workshop. Click here to buy tickets ($20/adult or $10/student).
