Save the Date: Blessing of the Animals

4:00-5:00 pm Sunday, October 26 • In the Parking lot
Join us for a special worship service to bless your family’s animals. Bring your pet on a leash or in a carrier for a special blessing as we give thanks to our/their Creator for their love and companionship. If your pet has passed, bring a picture of them to remember and bless the time that you had with them. As part of our worship, consider donating items from the Brandywine Valley SPCA West Chester shelter wish list. Bring the items with you to worship and we will deliver them. Click here to RSVP. Bring a lawn chair, blanket, or whatever you need to be comfortable outside.

Register for the High School Retreat

November 21-23 • Massanetta Springs
This new retreat, called Keep Awake!, focuses on the tenets of PC(USA)’s Matthew 25 initiative: dismantling structural racism, eradicating systemic poverty, and building congregational vitality – the name comes from Matthew 25:13. This retreat is designed for high school students and their leaders and it emphasizes leadership development for high schoolers to consider how God’s grace is an invitation to follow Christ in solidarity with “the least of these”. $175/person. Click here to register. Questions? Contact Chris Clark.

RSVP for Consecration Sunday

Sunday Worship, October 19 • Brunch in Spellman after Worship
Gather in worship to hear a message from our guest preacher and speaker Rev. Dr. Emily Chudy, and be invited to make a personal commitment of financial support for the coming year. Following each worship service, we will celebrate with a joyful brunch, giving thanks for the abundance God has already provided and the generosity that flows from hearts aligned with God’s vision of a church dedicated to Knowing Christ, Making Christ Known in all that we do. We urge everyone to join in this Celebration Brunch! There is no cost to you. Please RSVP here.

Blanket Drive Begins

Help us to provide warmth to our friends this coming winter season by donating new single, double or queen-sized warm winter blankets, with a heavier emphasis on singles and doubles. The Blanket Drive will run throughout the month of October. There are bins set up in Café 10 West for donations. You can also mail blankets directly to the church. Questions? Contact Gail Lee or Judy Reynolds.

Prison Ministry Art Show Begins Tomorrow

4:00 pm Friday, October 3 – 5:30 pm Sunday, October 12
Westminster partners with a Prison Ministry Art Show featuring artworks from the inmates at Coal Township State Correction Institute. Last year we raised $1,000 with half going to the inmates to restock their art supplies as well as Christmas gifts for their families. The other half, at the artists’ request, goes to our charities. The online Art Show previews today and ends on Sunday, October 12. The original art as well as calendars and greeting cards of the original artwork will be on sale.

  • A Jesus Shaped Life
    7:00 pm Wednesdays starting Sept. 17 • Room 405 & Zoom
Jill Frankie is launching a new hybrid small group based on the book A Jesus-Shaped Life: How Biblically Sound Theology Deepens Our Relationship with God and Each Other by Lisa Harper.  In this study, we will learn about the Bible and how God is present in our lives. Have a conversation with God, learn more about him, and help your faith grow. This is a study that invites us to experience God in all his fullness rather than just memorizing facts about him. Click here to sign up. Questions? Contact Jill Frankie.
  • The Chosen Small Groups
The Chosen is a biblically-centered, quality TV series that tracks the life of Jesus through the gospels. This fall (September-November) Diane McFalls is launching two small group opportunities (one in person, one on Zoom) to watch and discuss the life of Jesus in a fresh way, in conjunction with reading the gospels and interacting with others about it. All are welcome and invite a friend!
  • Book Discussion Group
    10:00 am Monday, October 6 • Library
Join our book group when they discuss Long Bright River by Liz Moore. The book looks at the anatomy of a Philadelphia family rocked by the opioid crisis and the relationship between two sisters–one, suffering from addiction, who has suddenly gone missing amid a series of mysterious murders; the other a police officer who patrols the neighborhood from which she disappeared: a story about the formidable ties between place, family, and fate. Click here to sign up.
