Update from the Pastor Nominating Committee

The Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) is pleased to announce we are in the final stages of our search and discernment process for a new Head of Staff to succeed Don Lincoln who is retiring at the end of July.
Our PNC reviewed over 60 candidates and interviewed four highly qualified individuals as part of this search process. Since the PNC was elected a year ago, we have met almost weekly to participate in educational and protocol training from the Donegal Presbytery, jointly draft numerous application forms and letters, develop a candidate profile, post the position, create a process for reviewing applications, watch hundreds of hours of sermons online, complete reference checks, and conduct interviews online and in person. We have spent a considerable amount of time carefully discussing the needs of the congregation and the qualifications and qualities that each candidate would bring to our church and community. We have prayerfully considered an array of factors and have continued to ask God to guide our discernment.
Our committee of 11 members is very excited about the way God’s spirit has led us to this point. We expect to complete our search process in the coming weeks and bring a candidate to the congregation prior to Don’s retirement. The final candidate will preach for the congregation during Sunday morning worship and members will then vote to call the next Lead Pastor/Head of Staff for Westminster. Details on the exact date will be forthcoming.
We are very grateful to the congregation for its continued prayers and support.

Ukrainian Refugee Relief Donations

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of donations for the Ukrainian Relief Effort. To date, our congregation has contributed over $16,000 to this important work. Thank you! As the violence continues, the first priority of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) has been funding established partners with emergency humanitarian aid, such as food, shelter, medicines, diapers, and hygiene items. For updates on PDA response efforts click here.
Earlier this spring, Westminster also shipped around 360 prayer squares to Germany for distribution by the Red Cross to Ukrainian refugees passing through the Berlin Train Station. These prayer squares were created by a Westminster member who fled Germany as a girl during a previous war. The knitted and crocheted squares are reminders of God’s love and our prayers in the midst of the violence and war that continue in Ukraine.

Dementia & Alzheimer’s Support Group

How do I motivate someone with Dementia or Alzheimer’s? What should I NOT say to someone with Dementia or Alzheimer’s? If you are asking these questions about a loved one struggling with Dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease, then a small, support group can help you answer these and many other questions. While there is no cure for Dementia or Alzheimer’s, we can gain strength from our faith and find mutual support from others facing similar situations. Together, we can ease our troubled minds and hearts, as we navigate this Alzheimer’s journey. If you are interested in joining a Dementia or Alzheimer’s Support Group, please contact Pastor Ann.

Prepare Soup & Casseroles

Deacons bring meals to families and friends in times of need and it is helpful to have a supply available in the church freezer. And it is SO easy – label it with ingredients, date prepared, and your name. Wrap it well and put it on the bottom shelf of the freezer next to the window in the kitchen. Kits for both soup and casseroles are available at the Info Desk. Questions? Contact Lynn Carrero.

Thank You for Your Generous Donations....

One Great Hour of Sharing donations reached a total of over $19,000, as of last week’s count. This is Westminster’s highest total ever collected! We are deeply grateful for your contributions to this special offering. Your financial gifts will make a difference in people’s lives by directly addressing issues of hunger, thirst, refugee assistance, education, and disaster recovery efforts throughout the world. Thank you so much for making this possible through your generosity!
